Problematic

The Goals are relatively unknown amongst the general public

Just 11% of the French population say they are familiar with the ‘United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals’, whilst 53% admit they don’t know about them. These percentages have remained relatively stable since 2019.

And yet, the world over, women and men are devoting their time and energy to the creation of sustainable solutions for a more harmonious world.

Energy Observer is heading off in search of them in a bid to promote their ideas and their actions. From access to clean and affordable energy to build sustainable cities and communities, to innovations in the circular economy and responsible consumption, vectors of employment and economic growth, access to a high-quality education to guarantee gender equality and create a fairer world, the transition to well thought-out and responsible agriculture, an opportunity to combat world hunger and protect life both on land and on the water, and so on.

Solution

Solutions, the web series about the 17 SDGS

Energy Observer Solutions is a digital platform launched in June 2019. It shines a spotlight on the worldwide solutions in ecological and inclusive transition pinpointed by Energy Observer’s editorial and scientific committee and supported by the pioneers who are reinventing tomorrow’s world.

All these solutions are gathered together in video format and arranged around the Sustainable Development Goals. This platform has been thought out and fleshed out with the Ministry for Ecological Transition, the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) created in 2012 by the UN Secretary-General, the International Association of Universities (IAU), the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Ademe) and UNESCO.

An educational platform with a universal reach

These inspiring and positive 2 to 3-minute videos, whose tone and format is geared towards social networks, aim to introduce these protagonists of change to the wider public arena by providing a showcase for their solutions and their local projects.

These capsules are designed to raise public awareness about the 17 Sustainable Development Goals set out by the UN in the Agenda 2030, for which we are the primary French ambassador, and make them public, pass on their message and put them centre stage in the debate about our future.

Everyone can have a role, inventing new, fairer systems for society and implementing practical projects and innovations, which will have a visible and positive impact on their district, their city or even their country. All the Sustainable Development Goals are interlinked and interconnected”. Victorien Erussard, captain and founder of Energy Observer.
