Future Energy Scenarios with RTE (Electricity Transmission Network)

On 25 October, RTE (Electricity Transmission Network) published the key findings of its study ‘2050 Energy Futures’, in response to the matter brought before the government.

With the target of carbon neutrality in 2050, RTE (Electricity Transmission Network) draws up 6 paths, which range from an egalitarian scenario between nuclear and renewable energies to a scenario using 100% renewable electricity in 2050.

The report aims to create the conditions for a ‘political decision’, which will involve a “totally different electric system”, which “will not answer to the operating principles we’ve been familiar with over the past 30 years.” It calls for massive public investment equal to the environmental emergency.
